Montcalm Audiology & Hearing Aid Services Ltd. has been a hearing clinic and hearing aid dispensary since it opened in 1994. Lori Montcalm opened the hearing clinic during a time when access to audiology services in much of Ontario involved seeing a family physician first. The family physician would either refer a patient to an Ear Nose and Throat Specialist or refer the patient to a hospital with an audiology department.

Lori’s idea was to provide an alternate option for audiological evaluations/services vs. the traditional medical model which had been the mainstream for many years.

Lori's ultimate goal was to give people direct access to audiology services similar to optometrists who offer direct access to vision care services. Should a patient present with a hearing problem of a medical origin, then a referral to a physician would be made. Direct access to audiology services could possibly provide considerable savings of people’s time in the long run.
